This last spot is a city Bo picked as her “must visit” months and months ago when we first started researching France.
Colmar sits in the flat Alsatian plain at the foot of the Vosges Mountains and roughly 10 miles west of the Rhine River and the German border. It’s home to a blend of French and German cultural heritage, and you hear equal parts French and German amongst the tourists.
Everyone slept in late, then Bo and I went to find pastries to supplement breakfast.

I cannot remember how today unfolded now! This is why I shouldn’t have let myself fall behind.
I know I sliced tomatoes and onions and cucumber and lettuce to bring on a picnic (sandwich ingredients), and I boiled some eggs.
Eventually, we all walking to a big park and lay in the grass while the kids kicked the soccer ball. At some point Sean and I walked to a nearby grocery store to get bread and cheese and meat and mustard (and chips) to round out the sandwich picnic meal.

The sandwiches were scrumptious and Sean laid down to nap under a tree while the kids and I went and got pistachio soft serve and walked home to watch the second half of the stage.
In the evening, as a cool breeze swept in, we went out for an evening stroll through Colmar to see it light up at night. I had fun taking photos of this photogenic town.

Night walks have been our favorite this trip. Cooler, less crowded, lights, the feeling that magic could be real.
