Legend has it that the town was founded by a giant called Sletto (or Schletto), one of whose ribs is preserved in the Humanist Library. This would explain the German name of Sélestat: Schlettstadt: town of Sletto.
The Airbnb where we are staying is super cute and comfy.

Art and color everywhere!

We’ve spent much of the day here (watching the tour, reading, napping, calling friends), punctuated by trips to the boulangerie for breakfast, the grocery store for snacks and dinner ingredients, a small gallery that’s only open 3-hours a day, more gelato, and some shopping in little boutiques nearby.

I made a tasty dinner for us (got tipsy while cooking and fell asleep for a bit after dinner).

Just now I showered, took some photos, and caught up on my blog posts (before I forget the details!). I think I might brush teeth and start a new novel to help me fall asleep. Ahh, vacation.
Link to video of spiral staircase and the crazy church bells that don’t chime every hour, but three times per day, for a long time:

P.S. After I finished this post, I went to investigate the laughter in the living room. Sean and the kids were watching French television. Evidently there was a show compiling 100 humorous things caught on camera (similar to AFV, but with a panel of hosts who make comments and do silly contests in between sets of videos.
