We slept in late and stayed up late on our last full day in Paris. our legs and feet are weary, but the adventure is still alive, and we are all surprised that we’ve made it this deep into the trip without homesickness.
I started my morning admiring the Parisian apartment, full of art. And when Bo got up a little later, I found her taking photos of the walls too.

Our goal for sightseeing today was visiting Les bouquinistes de la Seine—those charming green stalls that line the riverwalk selling used books and art prints. There is a saying that goes, the Seine is “the only river in the world that runs between two bookshelves.”
Of course there was a lot of walking and sightseeing along the way.

Three-fourths of us found art to buy, and Bo fell even more in love with Paris as she perused those stands.
Then, in search of a shady bench, we stopped at a little pocket park with grand looking buildings on all sides.

The boys stayed at the park while Bo and I went to browse some shops.

But lest you get the impression that everything is magical all the time, the later part of the afternoon was a dud. Too much walking, not enough wow-factor. We were hot and dusty and paid a ridiculous amount for cold drinks, and at 4:30 or so decided to tap out and return to the apartment to rest.

Right by home, we ran into the grocery store and bought cheese and bread and strawberries and pudding and beer. The snacks and the quiet down time restored us, and we decided to live large and go out again at 9:30pm, in hopes of catching a 10:30 boat ride down the Seine to see the city lights.
There were a TON of tourists with the same idea as us, but the line moved fast and there was a general air of joy and excitement among the throngs, pleased to be alive in Paris at night!
I took so many photos and videos, it’s hard to just pick a few. We had so much fun! The cool evening with the wind in our hair.

Everything was beautiful and our hearts were full.

Then, as we made our way home at near midnight, we all took a moment to soak in our final metro ride.

It was a special night.
