I am a day behind in posting, so I’m trying to catch up from a picnic blanket under the Eiffel Tower.
We left Hotel Croix Baragnon earlier than we would’ve liked in order to catch a 10:20am TGV super fast train to Paris. We stopped at a boulangerie and market to get snacks for the train.

It was a fine ride (4.5 hours, our longest train of the trip). We were bummed they asked everyone to keep the shades closed (they were at least semi-transparent) to keep the cars from heating up too much. But once we got to speed (198mph at one point!) things were flying by so fast, it kind of made you feel sick trying to watch it.
Then we got to the huge Paris Montparnasse station and found our way to the Metros that took us to the canal Saint Martin district.

What a cute place we got! During most of the year it is home to a father and daughter, though I think, like any Parisians, they flee for the summer. And the third floor apartment is HOT. Though Paris is less hot than our previous stops.

After we dropped off our things and rested a bit, Sean, Jesse, and Bo decided to go out, look around, and get some dinner (“Bring me something back.” Said River). We are a half block from the canal—a popular neighborhood with tons of bikes and young adults having happy hour along the canal.

We came back (this is our front entryway) after window shopping and Asian food dinner. We watched the Argentina-England game and tried to sleep (with the help of two fans and several wet towels, and a bottle of wine).
