Rest Day in Southwestern France

Castelnau-Durban is a small commune in the Ariège department of the Occitanie region. It is situated in the Pyrenees foothills. It is here where we rest for two more nights.

Today was restorative. We ate good, homemade food, drank wine, did laundry, and I read an entire novel (The Hounding), and started another (How to Dodge a Cannonball). The kids did some of their summer math, and sudoku, and watched some television on the laptop.

Sean walked to the center of the hamlet once in the morning and again in the afternoon, napping in between. I didn’t go further than the terrace.

We watched a replay of today’s stage of the Tour while we ate dinner, and just finished showing the kids Strictly Ballroom.

Now we are outside gazing at the brilliant stars—you can actually make out the Milky Way!

We’ll probably watch the second half of the England-Norway game and then all go to sleep.

Perfect rest day.
